The programme
ORIGINALLY costed at £6.50 a month for each child at primary school. Those
interested in sponsoring a child would be
given photos, letters and progress reports. The programme will buy each
child a school uniform, games kit, shoes, stationery, pens etc. We pay for
them to have lunch on school days at a local "hotel" (a small tin hut serving
beans and maize), giving the money direct to the owner on a weekly basis.
We will also provide older girls with their personal hygiene, as this is
another deterrent from attending school. Each situation is investigated
to ensure that help is only given where it is needed. Currently the programme
is operated in the Kisumu area of Kenya with plans to expand in the future.
Because of the success and growth of the initial scheme costs are now estd
at £5-00 per child as the numbers grow.........see Newsletters
